The first tarpon recorded in Boca Grande was in the late 1700s. Now, the area has worked its way up to "The Tarpon Capital of The World"! It makes sense why these big game fish love it here. The Charlotte Harbor is connected to the Peace River and Myakka River. This water ventures into Boca Grande and Pine Island Sound, making for some of the most beautiful grass flats the eye can see. These flats hold some of the most unique sight fishing opportunities in Florida. Rolling tarpon, tailing redfish, and big layed up snook are all common sights of a day on the water.
